Data We Collect

• Uploaded Images: When you upload a photo for valuation, the image is sent to Google's Gemini AI for analysis. Images are processed in real-time and are not stored on our servers. A compressed thumbnail is temporarily saved in your browser's local storage for display purposes only.
• Item Descriptions: If you provide an optional item description, it is sent alongside your image to improve valuation accuracy. This text is not stored after processing.
• IP Addresses: Your IP address is temporarily stored for rate limiting and abuse prevention. It is automatically deleted within 24 hours.
• Valuation Results: Results are stored in your browser's local storage for 24 hours. If you choose to create a shareable link, the valuation data (item name, price estimate, condition) is stored on our servers for 24 hours, then automatically deleted.
• Contact Information: If you submit a contact or feedback form, your name, email, and message are sent to Formspree for processing. We use this only to respond to your inquiry.
• Usage Analytics: We collect anonymized, aggregated analytics (page views, valuation counts, item categories) to improve our service. Individual request logs include item names and are retained for up to 30 days.

Data Retention

Third-Party Services We Use

We use the following third-party services to operate ValueSnap. Each has their own privacy policy governing data they process:

• Google Gemini AI — Processes uploaded images for item identification and valuation. Images are sent to Google's servers for analysis and are not permanently stored by ValueSnap. Google AI Terms

Cookies & Local Storage

ValueSnap uses minimal cookies and browser storage:

• Cloudflare Turnstile: May set security cookies for bot protection.
• Theme Preference: Stored in localStorage to remember your light/dark mode choice.
• Cookie Consent: Stored in localStorage to remember your consent choice.
• Valuation Cache: Stored in localStorage for 24 hours to display your results.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or cross-site tracking of any kind.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights under GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA, or other applicable privacy regulations:

• Right to Access: Request a copy of any data we hold about you.
• Right to Deletion: Request deletion of your data from our systems.
• Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Right to Object: Object to data processing for specific purposes.

Since we collect minimal personal data and most data auto-deletes within 24 hours, there is typically no persistent personal data profile. However, to exercise any of these rights or if you have questions, contact us at valuesnap.io@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.

How to Delete Your Data

• Browser data: Clear your browser's local storage or site data in browser settings.
• Shared links: Expire automatically after 24 hours. No action needed.
• All other data: Email valuesnap.io@gmail.com to request deletion of any data associated with your usage.

International Data Transfers

Data may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. By using ValueSnap, you consent to the transfer of your information to these countries, which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence. We ensure all third-party providers maintain appropriate security measures.

Age Restriction

ValueSnap is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at valuesnap.io@gmail.com and we will promptly delete it.
